Interview with Antoine Cornic for Mat de Misaine
Hello Antoine, can you introduce yourself in a few words?
"As a sportsman and competitor since I was always, I played judo and rugby before returning to sailing. I have always been close to the sea, when I was little I went on a lot of cruises with my parents, I was born with my feet in the water, and I feel good at sea so as soon as I was able to make the Vendée Globe project a reality, I said Banco!
My team and I have been working for 4 years to be in Les Sables d'Olonne on November 10th..."

How do you feel as you approach departure?
"I'm especially impatient! Now the boat is ready, as for knowing if the man is ready, I think I've done my best but it's true that I don't really know what to expect, especially in the South Seas where it will be my first time ...
Be careful, it's not worry, it's more the desire to go and see and discover what's going on there!"

A great memory at sea to share?
"A big, fat, black and white one! In 2021, on the Transat Jacques Vabre with my boat captain Lulu, we got really pushed around by killer whales off Cape Finistère.
The animal is magnificent and extremely impressive . Well, when we arrived in Fort de France, we realized that they had swallowed half a saffron..."

How did you discover Mat de Misaine?
"I knew Mat de Misaine a little because I live on the Isle of Ré and there is a shop in Saint-Martin Ré and then I also remember Sam's collection (Davies, editor's note) from a dozen years ago."
